Connecting Scale to a Native Mobile Application

SalonScale Solving HairStylist Problem
Owner of the Salon Scale was a stylist by her self and owned a salon. She knows all pain points, what is missing in the industry, how stylists thinks and what need to be productive.

She wanted a scale connected to her mobile and she can see how much the color cost!
My Contributions
I worked along side with CEO and learned her work style, her mental model and spend a lot of time in the salon to research, understand and create the product they need.

Problem

Salon owners are facing difficulties in keeping track of their color formulas, client information, and back bar inventory, leading to inefficiencies and a lack of accuracy in their business operations. The manual tracking process is time-consuming and prone to errors, causing frustration for salon owners who are looking for a more streamlined and efficient solution.

Solution

Go paperless with SalonScale and connect to the Bluetooth Scale, and Create a product data base with prices and set a Formula to calculate the colors was weight This solution that allows you to track your color recipe, store client information in one central location, and get an accurate price for the colors used. Additionally, if we design the back bar inventory feature, stylist can easily manage the inventory and ensure that they always have the products they need.

According to the Research Goal User Interviews and Focus Group methods were the right Research methods to go with.

Hair salon owners and professionals are our focus group. Diverse and represent a range of perspectives and experiences.

Frustrations: Odrey has tried a few different software solutions in the past, but has found that they are too complex and time-consuming to use effectively.

Needs: Desktop WebApp user,  She is looking for a software solution that is easy to use, integrates well with her current systems, and provides real-time insights into her business operations.

Frustrations: He is frustrated with the manual process of scheduling appointments and tracking his sales, and is looking for a software solution that can help him manage his schedule and track his sales more efficiently.

Needs: Mobile Application user, Jason is tech-savvy and is comfortable using software solutions, but he wants a solution that is user-friendly and designed specifically for hair salon professionals.

🧐 What we missed & learned along the way

Pretty normal- do not panic!
Sign-up and Sign in- option. It was hard to decide can we give a sign-up option through Social Media. As Users were concerned about the privacy of their data.

We missed giving another format file option to Bulk uploading of the products when the Salon owner doesn't have a CVS format of the file.

Subscription Pricing issue- basically was a major topic for Business developers as Business Strategy was not ready (StartUp)

I like the process, non-liner Double diamond was very productive. We did missed some important things- but we found out and added above aspects into the platform.
